IMPORTANT FACTORS
A general guideline for a music budget is 10% of the overall film budget. However, there are a lot of factors that go into the cost of an amazing score. Think about how much music you would like in your film, and think about what kind of music. Important questions to ask yourself are:
- Do I want live instruments?
- About how many minutes of music does my film need?
- Do I have any references or temp music to offer as a guideline?
- How long will my project be in post-production?
- Will my score be mastered on a dub stage?
